BRAW is committed to using every legacy gift responsibly and transparently. Funds are managed with care, reviewed by the Board, and directed to programs that directly support bluebirds and the people who monitor and protect them.

Charitable Bequests

Retirement Accounts

Naming a charity as the beneficiary of a traditional IRA or 401(k) allows the nonprofit to receive the funds tax-free, helping your heirs avoid heavy income taxes on inherited retirement assets.

You can name a charity as a primary or contingent beneficiary of an active policy. Alternatively, you can transfer ownership of a paid‑up policy directly to a charity, which may provide you with an immediate tax deduction.

Life Insurance Policies

Charitable Trusts

Tools like Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRTs) and Charitable Lead Trusts (CLTs) let you transfer highly appreciated assets (like real estate or stock) into a trust. This provides income streams for you or your beneficiaries, with the remainder ultimately supporting your chosen charities.
